The 7 references to Mary
in the 4 Gospels
(Excluding those relating to the birth of Christ)

Gospel of Matthew

Reference: Matthew 12:46 & 13:55.

Note: In 12: 46, the Lord Jesus said, 'Who is my mother? And who are my brethren?  ...whosoever shall do the will of my father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, my sister and mother'. His word places Mary in her proper context. The last reference refers to what people said about Christ and his family.

Gospel of Luke

Reference: Luke: 11:27-28.

Note: It is recorded that while Jesus was speaking a woman in the crowd proclaimed, 'Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts at which You nursed'. What an glorious opportunity for Christ to laud praise on his mother! But he never did. What did he say? 'Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it'. To the Lord Jesus, obedience to the word of God was more important.
